Notes

Vacancies There are three board positions for which no nomination is currently available. These are Treasurer, Rear Commodore (Sail) and Rear Commodore (Power). In the case of the Treasurer and Rear Commodore (Sail) the current incumbents are not standing for re election. The post of Rear Commodore (Power) is currently vacant.
Treasurer Members are invited to nominate themselves for election to the office of Treasurer by 8 Novemeber 2011. If at the AGM 30 or more members support such a self nomination then there nomination will be valid and subject to them winning a vote against any other self nominee, they may be elected. Further details of this post can be obtained from the Commodore or Vice Commodore.
Rear Commodores At the AGM the board will propose that the posts of Rear Commodore (Power) and Rear Commodore (Sail) be replaced by new posts of Rear Commodore (Racing) and Rear Commodore (Cruising). This is felt to more accurately represent the "on water" activities of the club, may encourage nominations more readily and would ensure appropriate board membership to represent these important groups of SHYC members.
If the AGM votes to accept the boards proposal then the election that followed would be for Rear Commodore (Racing) and rear Commodore (Cruising) if any nominations for the latter are received. Any nominations for Rear Commodores (Sail) and Rear Commodore (Power) would then no longer be considered. If however the AGM voted not to accept the proposal then the election would be for Rear Commodore (Sail) and Rear Commodore (Power) subject to their being nominations for these posts.
We cannot antiscipate the decision of the AGM in respose to the boards proposal for change. Therefore members are invited to nominate themselves for any of the possible 3 Rear Commodore positions, for which there is no nomination, that could be subject to election at the AGM, although, through due process only 2 positions will be filled by an election subject to nominations being received. The process and timescales by which self nominated members may be elected to office as a Rear Commodore will be the same as the process for self nominations for Treasurer that is described above
