Social eventsThere has always been a very active social side to the yacht club, with several events every month catering for all tastes - and 2008 will be no exception. With Rear Commodore 'Gary-the-Gang-Show' Mead heading the social committee, SHYC members are in for a very good time. The social events calendar for the first half of 2008 is now available here, and social calendars will be published every quarter on club noticeboards. Also look out for updates on forthcoming events and activities in Ahoy! the club's monthly newsletter. There's a programme of regular social activities on midweek evenings, with something on at least once every week including quiz nights, bingo, karaoke, talks of local interest and extra special food nights. Then boogie on down to the club on a Saturday night when we aim to have at least one live band and disco every month. There's also a superb calendar of traditional yacht club social events from the Fitting Out to Laying Up Suppers, Burns Night, Commodore’s Sail Past, Christmas Lunch and New Year's Eve party. Where else can you enjoy such a varied and lively social scene at the harbour? And remember, most of these events are free of charge to club members. The yacht club encourages family membership, and well-behaved children under parental supervision are always welcome. |
